Sad. If an athlete decides not to sign the agreement he can't go. If he goes and speaks out not only will he get in trouble, and possibly executed, it'll get censored.

Yeah. I guess I can understand why some athletes would sign the contract.. for some it's theyre only chance to compete in the Olympic games.

Why they're hosting it in China is another question all together though...

Economics. The Olympic Games have created a boom in the Chinese economy. So far it mostly benefits the Chinese since foreigners can't invest into their markets, if at all. My plan was (don't laugh) to build and own a McDonald's in China, anywhere. Even the smallest towns have 100,000 people living in it and they're usually quite drab. I've been to one and biked a good portion of it. China has a lot of potential, but in order to build something there not only do you need someone who's Chinese, but someone proficient in the bribing system.

Gagging order, as it says for one of the captions in that article.

Meh, why censor stuff like this anymore? Do people doubt that there are problems with violations and the like?

Better censorship (lol I'm just speculating) would be something subtle, like how networks like fox news have only conservative views.

Eh, that sucks. Why can't Athletes speak out.  :(

I don't know about making the world a better place, but why go through the hassel of gagging atheletes...for what? Politics?
