The day the (maniacal) laughter died.
« on: January 22, 2008, 05:10:55 PM »

Heath Ledger the man who was to play the Joker in the upcoming Dark Knight has died.

The Hollywood actor was found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence, a New York Police Department spokesman has said.

"He was found unconscious at the apartment and pronounced dead," a police spokeswoman said.

It is not yet clear how the 28-year-old Australian actor, who earned an Oscar nomination as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain, died.

Police said he had been due to have a massage at the flat.

Shocking! When the Dark Knight is finally released, it's gonna feel really weird watching him on screen.

Quote from: "The New York Times, 4th November 2007"
It all tied him in knots. “I stressed out a little too much,” Mr. Ledger said.

He tends to do that. He is here in London filming the latest episode of the “Batman” franchise, “The Dark Knight.” (Mr. Bale, as it happens, plays Batman; Mr. Ledger plays the Joker.) It is a physically and mentally draining role — his Joker is a “psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy” he said cheerfully — and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.

“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.

Quote from: "NEW YORK (CNN)"
"This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet."

The pills appeared to be over-the-counter sleeping medication, said police spokeswoman Barbara Chen.

I didn't know of this actor very much, but I want to see this movie when it comes out. It will indeed be very odd, RIP.

What a shame, he was a really talented actor. I thought he was excellent in The Order and Knights Tale. I'm sure they well add an in memorium for him at in the credits of the movie.

It will be odd watching him play out his final role.

From a Drama movie to a full scale Psychopath. From what it seems, his dedication to the role killed him. I wonder what his family is going to do.

I heard on the radio this morning that Mel Gibson said he was saddened by Heath's death because he was an actor with great promise and Mel had looked forward to watching the course of his career.

I agree that Heath was an actor with great promise, and it is a big loss to the movie industry, but it is such a tradegy when anyone dies especially when it appears that they just could not face the pressures of their life!   :(

For what it's worth, I don't think it was suicide. Likely to be an accident.

Sounds like he overdosed on sleeping pills trying to get a good night's sleep.

Poor guy.   :(

I found this.

01.23.2008 BEST BUY IS SENSITIVE

Best Week Ever has a picture sent in by a reader (hint hint you lazy ****ers) taken last night, showing Best Buy attempting to profit just hours after Heath Ledger died. I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was Best Buy who killed him.

I lol'ed at the last line of that post.

Someone also dedicated this song in memory of him

Quote from: "eggyman"
Heart of a Clown

You ask me why I'm leaving as I look in your eye
My smile is just a show like the sun in the sky
When I'm feeling low I make myself high

Decisions are so easy when your back's to the wall
There's one way you can go or no way at all
Isn't life much better now you're back on the ball

And don't be so surprised
Ask me no questions an' I'll tell you no lies
Yes it's easy to break the heart of a clown

And listen to what you say
You're looking at me girl, I'm turning away
Yes it's easy to break the heart of a clown

Now my eyes are wide open, my feet on the ground
My head keeps on spinnin', it's turnin' around
I was telling everybody about the love that I found

And listen to what you say
you're looking at me girl, I'm turning away
Yes it's easy to break the heart of a clown

Isn't it easy to see
We're not the same babe as we used to be
Yes it's easy to break the heart of a clown

A flash in the pan
A wink of the eye
I'll stay till tomorrow then it's your turn to cry
Yes it's easy to break the heart of a clown

Ah, Westboro Baptist Church. If it weren't for all the lawsuits, I would think they were a parody group.
